Colorado Rapids eyeing Wilshere as next Manager

The Colorado Rapids are reportedly eyeing Jack Wilshere, ex-Arsenal midfielder and current youth team coach, for the Major League Soccer (MLS) club's open head coach position.

Interestingly, both the Rapids and Arsenal fall under the umbrella of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. It seems that a formal request was made to Arsenal to chat with 31-year-old Wilshere about the job opening.

Although Wilshere only hung up his boots last year, he has already made an impact in his new coaching career. In his debut season, he led Arsenal's U-18 squad all the way to the FA Youth Cup Final. While he's content at Arsenal, Wilshere is eager for a higher-ranking management role if the right chance comes along. Right now, it's up in the air whether the MLS club will pursue their interest further.

The Rapids are currently struggling at the bottom of MLS' Western Conference following their separation from head coach Robin Fraser in September. Chris Little, previous head coach of Tacoma Defiance from the USL Championship, took over as interim boss after Fraser left.

Wilshere's playing career spanned a decade with Arsenal, along with loan stints at Bolton Wanderers and Bournemouth before joining West Ham United and eventually returning to Bournemouth for a second spell. His last club as a player was Danish side AGF Aarhus.
