Rooney vs Carrick, first Rooney managerial Task for Birmingham

By week's end, it's anticipated that former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney will assume the role of Birmingham City's new manager. Following his departure from MLS team DC United, the 37-year-old record goalscorer touched down in England earlier this week. Rooney is set to succeed John Eustace and be officially introduced before the weekend.

With sufficient time to coach his players beforehand, Rooney's managerial debut will kick off against Middlesbrough after the international hiatus. Birmingham City is aiming to capitalize on their consecutive victories over Huddersfield Town and West Bromwich Albion.

In an exciting twist, Rooney's first game leading the Blues will pit him against none other than his former United and England teammate Michael Carrick, who currently manages Middlesbrough. No strangers to one another, Rooney and Carrick were steadfast allies throughout their time at both club and national level, competing in a staggering 366 matches together over the years. Their shared legacy at Old Trafford includes five Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, a Europa League triumph, an FA Cup victory, and two EFL Cups.

Initially struggling this season, Middlesbrough has now witnessed a change of pace under Carrick’s guidance with four Championship wins back-to-back – no doubt setting the stage for an electrifying showdown between these two iconic football figures.
